Days in a Room
2021
This 4-minute fiction film, which was the first film project which was directed, wrote, and acted by myself, tells the story of a man who becomes mentally trapped in a room, overwhelmed and gradually 'devoured' by digital consumerism. As he is consumed by digital products, he descends into psychosis. The film uniquely utilizes CCTV-style shots to capture the man's interactions with his environment, emphasizing the claustrophobic and surveillance-heavy aspects of his digital entrapment. The film provides a reflection on the impact of lockdown on our mental states and digital dependency. It highlights the psychological effects of prolonged confinement and excessive digital interaction, serving as a poignant reminder of the isolation experienced by many.
