As a third-year BA Media student at University College London, Chengxu's academic and creative pursuits converge at the intersection of game design and film production. His work reflects a passion for worldbuilding and storytelling, where each project is a unique exploration of immersive narratives crafted through a blend of cinematic and interactive experiences. His experience as a level designer and environment artist is complemented by a keen eye for visual storytelling, honed through various roles such as director, cinematographer, and editor. His technical proficiency spans a range of industry-standard software, including Unreal Engine 5, Unity, Blender, Adobe Premier Pro, and DaVinci Resolve, allowing for a seamless translation of visionary concepts into tangible outputs.
Chengxu prioritises practice-based research in his academic work, combining thorough theoretical and visual analysis with creative application. This approach ensures that each project is not only technically proficient but also conceptually rich, with these insights directly informing and elevating practical work. Chengxu's collaborative efforts also demonstrate his multifaceted skill set, allowing him to contribute to team projects in various capacities. He is also looking forward to exploring visual art and story telling, and virtual production which BA Media access to and further as an MA student at UCL East.
His final major project is still in progress and will be revealed at the BA Media Degree Show at UCL East Marshgate from June 5th to 15th. It represents the culmination of his practice-based research and craftsmanship in media, encapsulating his journey and aspirations within the sphere of cinematic and game experiences.
